The Jewelled World of Queen Marie of Romania
Queen Marie of Romania was an elegant, stylish and extremely popular lady. From her involvement in politics to her extensive jewellery collection, she was admired by many. She was the daughter of Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh and Grand Duchess Maria Alexandrovna of Russia and Granddaughter of Queen Victoria. Her jewellery collection was the envy of many and included a beautiful sapphire which cost 1,375,000 francs in 1921 and was bought by King Ferdinand on an instalment plan! She was lovingly referred to as ‘Missy’ and this is certainly one talk you don’t want to miss.

Lectures are individually priced at £42* and include tea or coffee on arrival
and a complimentary glass of fizz and sandwich lunch after the Talk.
The Gallery doors will open between 11am and 11.15am and the Talk will commence at 11.30am
