Cartier 1920’s-1940’s – Creative Freedom
Cartier were the leading jewellers in The Art Deco period, a period that brought creative freedom to jewellery and fashion design. This talk will focus on all the revival jewellery that Cartier made fashionable and the designers behind the pieces, such as Charles Jacqueau and Jeanne Toussaint, who joined the firm in the 1930’s. From revival trends to cat jewellery, this talk is full of beautiful and breathtaking jewellery.

Cartier 1950’s Onwards – The Contemporary Classics
Cartier remains one of the most successful luxury jewellery brands to date. This talk will look at how Cartier evolved into this fabulous contemporary, yet classic brand, in a market which has become saturated with luxury brand names. Cartier’s contribution to contemporary design is incredible. A sophisticated yet glamourous look, which takes inspiration from the past, but re-defined for our modern world, creating a look that is made to last.

The Great Jewellers of Glasgow
Glasgow is one of the most artistic cities in the world and of course the home of the Glasgow School of Art. From the 1890’s key artists, sculptors, architects and jewellers were emerging who helped to shape our cultural world. This talk will look at exceptional talent including Margaret and Frances Macdonald MacNair, Phoebe Anna Traquair who was an exceptional enamellist, Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Norman Grant a 20th Century jeweller. They were influenced by the likes of Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris and went onto inspire designers throughout the C20th and into the C21st Centuries.
